- Purple Showers Viola is an attractive perennial with purple colored flowers with yellow centers, under 1' tall and spreading 2', used as a ground cover. Fragrant blooms appear from spring through fall, above foliage. Trim spent flowers in summer to encourage more blooming. Foliage is glossy, green and heart shaped. This is short lived perennial, perhaps lasting 2 growing seasons. It tolerates full to part sun with well draining soil, moist soil. May need more water during hot summer months.
