The 'Gracillimus' is a clumping beautiful grass, growing to 6'-8' tall and up to 5' wide. It has thin, silver-green long leaves that turn bronze with colder weather. It does best in full sun and well draining soil but is tolerant of sandy to clay soils as well. Does not need much fertilizer. It is drought tolerant once it's established. Flower tassels, reddish color, appear in late summer, gradually turning to silver. The grass can be pruned in late winter if needed. It tolerates coastal areas. Looks wonderful when mass planted or for borders.

'Tuscan Blue' is an upright shrub that grows 4'-6' tall and wide. It has olive green, needle-like, small, aromatic leaves and bright showy lavender-blue flowers that are larger than other cultivars, blooming in winter and spring. This shrub is drought tolerant once it's established, preferring full sun and well draining soil.

The Pistacia chinensis is a deciduous tree with broad, spreading growth to 50' in height. Its leaves have 10-16 leaflets, and the fall coloring arrives in beautiful shades of red, orange and yellow. Prune young trees to shape. This tree does not have edible nuts. Female trees have tiny red fruit, turning dark blue. It prefers full sun and deep, infrequent waterings. This is a great street or park tree.

The Mexican Sage is a bushy shrub that grows 3'-4' tall and wide. It has hairy white stems, grey-green leaves and velvet-like purple flower spikes that bloom summer through fall. This woody shrub has long stiff stems with gray green, wrinkled evergreen leaves when juvenile, changing to smooth and white with time. Fragrant white flowers bloom in the spring, attracting bees. Prune after bloom time to shape shrub. It provides a strong structural form as a garden focal point. It can reach 6' tall and wide; and is considered slow growing. Plant in full sun with well draining soil. Established plants need very little summer water. Leaves have been used for herbal teas and for medicinal purposes.

This larger perennial will grow to 6' tall and has small, light green leaves with yellow mustard colored flowers that bloom in winter and spring. Cut back to within 6" of the ground to refresh and reduce the size of the plant.
