This shrub will quickly grow 4'-6' tall and wide with dark green, thick foliage. It produces clusters of pink flowers that bloom in spring and clusters of black fruit in the fall. It prefers full to part sun with well draining, rich soil. 'Pink Lady" is adaptable to coastal areas as well as warm inland valleys. It is drought tolerant once it's established.

Nandina domestica is a graceful upright shrub that grows from 3'-6' in height. It gets its name from its bamboo-like growth habit. When thinned from the center it bears a remarkable resemblance to bamboo. It is best used in groups. It can be used in a shaded patio or out in a shrub border with full sun. An interesting feature of Heavenly Bamboo is the bronze color in the new growth when planted in full sun. It also bears clusters of white flowers in the spring.

This fast-growing shrub has an upright, branching habit that reaches 12'-15' tall and 8' wide, with willow-like leaves that are 4" in length. Its foliage is bronzy-green in color, which turns a reddish-purple shade in the fall and winter. It has compact growth and requires full sun for the best results. Small green flowers appear in summer (are insignificant) followed by brown seed capsules. These capsules will litter a pool. Do not plant in windy areas or high fire areas. This shrub is drougb tolerant once it's established but will do better with occasional water. It can be planted in desert areas that are protected from wind.

Ficus benjamina is a evergreen tree that grows or can be kept from 8' to 25' tall and 3' to 30' wide with shiny green leaves. This tree has a lovely weeping habit. In temperate areas, however, this tree can reach 60' tall so it's not appropriate for residential use. It likes half to full sun and tolerate some shade, medium watering, and any well drained soil. Can be grown in pots in desert areas indoors. Not frost tolerant. Trunk is a light brown color and can be braided. This tree is also used for bonsai. Also known as Weeping Fig.

Botanical name: Afrocarpus gracilior
Soft, narrow, pointed. linear, dark green leaves on graceful arching branches characterize this tree. Afrocarpus can be used as an individual specimen, screen, or hedge or even in a container or espaliered. African Fern Pine can reach 60' tall and 20' wide. It is clean (no messy litter) and mostly pest free so it's used on streets, lawns, patios, or gardens. Plant in full or part sun; it needs medium amount of watering. Branch ends have fleshy yellow fruit which age to blue purple.
