Common name: Iceland Poppy
Botanical name: Papaver nudicaule

This Iceland Poppy produces leaves that are divided with flowers, appearing on stems 1'-2' high. These flowers are cup-shaped to 3" across, and come in colors of yellow, orange, salmon, rose, pink and cream.

Masses of snow white flowers highlight this plant during the early summer season. This attractive ground cover is a great filler among other plants and rocks. This deciduous shrub or small tree reaches 15' tall and 10' wide. Beautiful magenta flowers appear in spring, before the leaves appear. Foliage is apple green, turning yellow to red in the fall. Seed pods dangle on this tree in winter. Western Redbud prefers full sun but will appreciate afternoon shade in desert areas. It needs well draining soil. It is drought tolerant once it's established. It attracts hummingbirds and butterflies. A tree of varying interest all year round!

Blue Bush Sage

Botanical name: Salvia clevelandii 'Allen Chickering'

'Allen Chickering' is a perennial, California native shrub that grows 4' high and wide. Whorls of lavender flowers rise above the foliage in spring and summer on 2' tall stalks. Leaves are gray green and fragrant. This shrub does best in full sun, well draining soil and little watering during the summer. Hummingbirds, bees and butterflies love this plant!
