This clumping perennial will grow less than 1' tall and has narrow, blue green leaves. Clusters of lavender flowers bloom in spring and summer. Leaves and flowers have a distinct onion or garlic smell if crushed.

Phormium 'Jack Spratt' is an evergreen perennial. This variety is a dwarf, reaching 18" tall and wide. It is fan-shaped and clumping. The leaves are burgundy bronze in color and make a great border plant.

Phormium tenax 'Atropurpureum' is an evergreen perennial. Big, dramatic plant composed of many swordlike, stiffly vertical leaves can reach 5' tall. Leaves are purple red. Flowers stems reach high above leaves, bearing clusters of 1"-2" blossoms in dark red.

Pink Breath of Heaven is a fine, textured, wispy shrub growing 6' high and 5' wide, with tiny pink flowers that bloom from spring through fall. Flowers are at the branch ends and sway with the slightest breeze. Leaves are evergreen, fragrant, tiny and needle-like. Plant near walkways so foliage may release aromatic oils when brushed. It does best in full to part sun with well draining soil. It can become drought tolerant once it's established. It does well in coastal areas.

The Royal Trumpet Vine is a very vigorous vine, climbing to 30' tall and wide. Rosy lavender flowers bloom in spring and summer. These blooms have yellow throats and fade to pink as they age. Its foliage is lighter green and glossier than the Blood Red Trumpet Vine, its closest relative, are leathery and have tendrils for climbing. The vine does best in full to part sun with regular watering and more during the summer. Flowers attract hummingbirds.
