Star Jasmine is an evergreen vine that grows 20' tall or a ground cover that reaches 1'-2' tall and 4'-5' wide. It has white fragrant flowers in the summer and can tolerate sun or partial shade. These shrubs and vines are the most loved in the Western USA and are very resilient. They come in a wide variety of colors and sizes, from 2'-6' tall. Tea roses are the classical look types that have tall thin vertical stems, with a single flower at the end of the stem. Buds usually spiral open during spring and even into fall if weather is still frost free. Tea roses prefer full sun, well draining, rich soil, with ample watering. Plant foliage at the base of the plants to cover canes.

This deciduous vine can quickly and aggressively reach 30' and wide, depending on conditions. It bears rounded clusters of strongly fragrant flowers which open more or less all at once. Cultivars have blue, pink, white, purple or lavender colors, attracting hummingbirds in spring, followed by leafing out of foliage which are usually leaflets, followed by velvety, long, drooping pods. This vine can tolerate full sun to part shade, preferring well draining, rich, moist soil. But it is very reliable and can take drought conditions if established. It looks great in containers and even as a bonsai specimen.
