Botanical name: Erysimum 'Bowles Mauve'

This shrubby evergreen perennial reaches a size of 3' tall and 4' wide with narrow, dark foliage and a dense habit. Its flowers always emerge as mauve purple, and are produced on 4' tall stalks. It blooms throughout warm months but can bloom continuously in mild climates. It should receive sun to part shade, with little or no summer watering. It is hardy to frost.

The 'Marina' has gorgeous bark, with leaves that are smaller and not as glossy as Pacific Madrone. Its flowers are pink, borne in pendant clusters in the summer. The fruit is large, red and quite ornamental. The plant should be grown in sun to part shade, with little or no summer watering when established. The 'Marina' prefers good drainage. Sago palm resembles small palms; it is evergreen. It can slowly grow to 10' tall so consider the space around it when planting it. It is used for a tropical effect and also looks great in planters. In the low desert, light shade and additional moisture are best. It does best with well draining soil. Side sprouts can form multi-trunked individuals. Apply fertilizer at leaf expansion. This plant has few pests. The leaves and seeds are poisonous to animals. Sago palm is also used for bonsai. Established plants need little water and care.

This slow growing, evergreen, multi-trunked tree is 20' tall and 10' wide. It has a dense, rounded crown with yellow flowers that bloom in late spring, and attractive leaves and bark. It requires regular watering.
