Kleinia is a spreading succulent and ground cover that grows to about 6" to 18" tall with florescent blue green foliage. The ice plant like leaves are long and slender.It is from South Africa and works well in Mediterranean gardens. It is good in most sun conditions and can take very little watering or regular garden watering making it very adaptable for garden design. It performs best with full sun and regular water. Once it is established it is very drought tolerant. It is easy to propagate as are many succulents. Any section of the plant broken off and dug into the soil will reroot.

Western Redbud

Botanical name: Cercis occidentalis

This deciduous shrub or small tree reaches 15' tall and 10' wide. Beautiful magenta flowers appear in spring, before the leaves appear. Foliage is apple green, turning yellow to red in the fall. Seed pods dangle on this tree in winter. Western Redbud prefers full sun but will appreciate afternoon shade in desert areas. It needs well draining soil. It is drought tolerant once it's established. It attracts hummingbirds and butterflies. A tree of varying interest all year round!

African Daisy hybrids grow 12-18" high x 12" wide and produce daisy-like flowers from spring through summer. These hybrids have lobed, gray green leaves and bloom in white, pink, red, purple, cream, yellow or orange. Arctotis likes full sun and well draining soil. It is drought tolerant once it's established.

This unusual looking succulent can reach 12' tall and wide. Because it's slow growing it usually found in 6' tall and wide range at maturity. Thick stems are covered with large, thick, fuzzy, gray green leaves that are triangular-shaped with undulating edges. Inconspicuous flowers. Although tender to frost, it makes an excellent accent for rock gardens or desert themed landscapes. It is a wonderful accent plant. It does best in full to part sun. Looks great in containers. It is drought tolerant once it's established. Give it well draining soil but no fertilizer.

This is a fast growing, evergreen, flowering shrub that works great as a foundation planting or windbreak. They require little maintenance other than occasional shearing to keep it dense. Other names: Malva Rose
