Wilhelm's Lance Torch Lily

Common name: Wilhelm's Lance Torch Lily
Botanical name: Kniphofia 'Wilhelm's Lance'

This perennial will grow to about 6' tall and has large green, grass-like leaves with red, orange, and yellow tubular flowers that bloom in summer. Flowers resemble tiki torches. Hummingbirds love the flowers.

Japanese Blood Grass

This groundcover/grass can slowly reach up to 1' tall and 18" wide. During spring, thin lime green blades of grass rise, with red tips. With warmer weather, blades turn completely red. During fall and winter, grass turns gray brown. This attractive and dramatic looking grass tolerates full to part sun, preferring moist, well draining soil. This plant looks great in containers, with rocks, in alpine gardens, in borders. It is dramatic when back lit.

Aeonium arboreum 'Zwartkop' is a succulent perennial that is used for accenting effect. Aeonium arboreum grows 3' tall and wide. Each branch has a 6"-8 " wide rosette of dark green, fleshy leaves.The flowers are yellow in clusters.

This small evergreen tree or shrub can quickly grow up to 12'-15' high and 12' wide. Leaf color can vary from green to purple. Though it is a shrub, it can pruned to resemble a tree by removing stems except for a central leader. It is drought tolerant. It prefers full sun although it will tolerate part shade and needs well draining soil. It is susceptible to Texas root rot. Yellow/green, small flowers appear in spring, followed by small papery, light brown seed pods that rustle with the slightest wind. Prune dead or damaged branches.

Mexican Sage

The Mexican Sage is a bushy shrub that grows 3'-4' tall and wide. It has hairy white stems, grey-green leaves and velvet-like purple flower spikes that bloom summer through fall. This shrub tolerates sun, light shade, little water, and is hardy to 15 degrees F. The Mexican Sage attracts hummingbirds. Be careful not to overwater. -Cornflower Farms

Italian Cypress

Italian Cypress is often associated with Italian and Spanish architecture, providing columns in the landscape. It can quickly reach 40' tall and 3'-4' wide. 'Stricta' is compact, dense, columnar and produces long, straight branches with dark green foliage. Birds use the conifer as nesting and refuge. It does best in full sun with well draining soil. It is drought tolerant once it's established. It is a narrower version of the parent plant.
