Common name: Otto Quast Spanish Lavender
Botanical name: Lavandula stoechas 'Otto Quast'

This round shrub will grow to about 1-2' high and has small, gray green leaves with purple flowers that bloom in summer. It is more prostrate than its parent Lavandula stoechas. The flowers resemble a purple pineapple! 'Otto Quast' is drought tolerant once it is established and cold tolerant to 5 degrees F.

Sweet Acacia is a large thorny shrub or small tree has a soft texture as a result of its finely divided leaves. Bright yellow flowers have a light, sweet fragrance. The bloom is heaviest in the spring and may continue intermittently throughout summer and fall. It is evergreen in mild winters. Soil tolerant even poorly drained. Branches are armed with paired spines to 2".

This reliable groundcover/shrub blooms periodically throughout the year with gold colored flowers. Blooms attract butterflies. Lantana forms a dark green mound up to 18" tall and 3' wide. It prefers deep, infrequent watering and occasional pruning. It may suffer from frost damage but it recovers quickly. It is root hardy and susceptible to whiteflies.

The Pistacia chinensis is a deciduous tree with broad, spreading growth to 50' in height. Its leaves have 10-16 leaflets, and the fall coloring arrives in beautiful shades of red, orange and yellow. Prune young trees to shape. This tree does not have edible nuts. Female trees have tiny red fruit, turning dark blue. It prefers full sun and deep, infrequent waterings. This is a great street or park tree.
