Robinia X ambigua 'Purple Robe' is a deciduous tree that grows 30'-40' tall and 20'-30' wide with compound green leaves. Trunk and branches have thorns; will break easily in windy conditions. It requires full sun, low watering (drought tolerant), and will live in most soils except for wet. It has pink, wisteria-like, fragrant flowers that bloom in spring, attracting bees. Purple brown seed pods follow bloom period. This tree grows quickly and suckers; it is useful on hillsides or reclamation areas.

Cordyline australis is an evergreen tree that slowly grows to 25' tall. Leaves are long, sword shaped and light green. White fragrant flowers bloom in summer. Small blue berries appear in fall. It likes full sun and is very tolerant of heat, drought, wind and coastal conditions. It will live in any type of soil that is well drained. It may develop one or multiple trunks which are dark gray and furrowed. It is considered invasive in some areas.

This dependable shrub with bright yellow, daisy-like flowers, blooms almost year-round. Its leaves are grey-green in color and divided. This shrub can reach 6' tall and wide. It is very hardy and does well in full sun and well draining soil. When established, it is drought tolerant. Prune when flowers start to fade. The branches are wonderful in flower arrangements. This shrub tends to show its branches at the bottom so plant something low growing like Basket of Gold alyssum.
