Common name: Coral Bells
Botanical name: Heuchera species

These perennials have tiny white or pink flowers that are held on thin wiry stalks above the foliage. They bloom in spring or summer, depending on cultivar. This plant is grown for the foliage which is large and lobed, in different colors from dark purple almost black to variegated green to lime green. These plants can tolerate full sun in coastal areas but need afternoon shade in warm inland areas. It does best with well draining soil and regular watering. Some established cultivars are drought tolerant. Looks great when planted in masses and in borders.
