Purple Showers Viola is an attractive perennial with purple colored flowers with yellow centers, under 1' tall and spreading 2', used as a ground cover. Fragrant blooms appear from spring through fall, above foliage. Trim spent flowers in summer to encourage more blooming. Foliage is glossy, green and heart shaped. This is short lived perennial, perhaps lasting 2 growing seasons. It tolerates full to part sun with well draining soil, moist soil. May need more water during hot summer months.

This groundcover-small shrub will grow 1' tall, spreading 4' in a year. It has medium-size green leaves with lavender that have a dark purple center. The flower color changes to white the next day! The flowers bloom in fall and winter but in mild coastal areas, may bloom all year. It needs well draining soil. This plant looks great on a hillside or in a hanging basket.
