Long Stemmed Lavender has beautiful lavender colored plumes in the summer, reaching 3' tall and wide. Fragrance from blooms attract bees. Dried flowers used for sachets, oils, medicinal and culinary uses. Foliage is gray green and thin. This perennial has "fatter" flower spikes than other lavenders. It prefers full sun in well draining soil with low fertilizer. Does not tolerate frost or humidity.

In hot summer places, plant in full sun but with afternoon shade. It will only bloom from spring through midsummer. It does best in well draining soil. It does best with regular watering. It should be planted next to a chain link fence or in a container with a trellis, as it can be trained. Leaves are dark green and evergreen. Flowers are fragrant and multi-colored and layered, blooming in spring, followed by the fruit. This vine does best in full sun in frost-free areas that are not extremely hot in summer. It needs well draining, rich, sandy, loamy soil.
