Garden Tours and Garden GalleryTip: When viewing the Garden Gallery and Garden Tours, be sure to click on the "More" button at the top of the screen to see additional gardens. What are some of the ways I can conserve water in my landscape?Limit turf areas. Plant only as much lawn as necessary for targeted uses such as play areas. Plant other areas with water-thrifty plants. Consider native grasses and low groundcovers as lawn substitutes. Fix leaking sprinklers, valves, and pipes. One broken spray sprinkler can waste 10 gallons per minute – or 100 gallons in a typical 10 minute watering cycle. Make a habit of testing your sprinklers on a regular basis for breaks and leaks. Use mulches. In addition to adding organic matter to the soil, mulches increase the soil’s ability to retain moisture. Can I print out my own plant list?Yes, as you see plants you like you will find underneath the picture of the plant in the individual plant record the words, “Add plant to Mylist” you can collect plants this way to a private temporary file. Then go the Mylist from the Main Menu. Here you will need to select which report you want. Does the website save my plant list?Yes, as long as you use the same computer when you return to the website. What is the difference between a garden tour and a garden gallery?A garden tour is a group of images of the same property, as if you were walking around it yourself. A garden gallery is where images have been assembled that are of the same landscape category, decks, back yards, fences, etc. What is a hydrozone? When planting it is helpful for water conservation to group plants by their water needs and put them on separate valves and irrigate them accordingly. The web site will group the plants together according to their water needs to assist you in this process. The lawn should be watered independent of the planting beds and therefore it has its own hydrozone and valve.
